The greenhouse complex has a large number of tropical and subtropical plants — over 4 thousand species. The collection of cactus and other succulents has about 2 thousand species. The orchid exhibition has over 80 species.

Below are some interesting facts about the collection and the unique plant species in it (you can learn more about them later in the tour) :

- Unique collection of exotic plants: Ceratonia siliqua (carob), Laurus nobilis (laurel trees), Acca sellowiana (feijoa), Eriobotrya japonica (loquat), Bambusa (bamboo), Musa basjoo (Japanese banana)Strelitzia reginae (crane flower), Brunfelsia (raintree), Ficus elastica (rubber fig), Artocarpus altilis (bread tree), Coffea arabica (Arabica coffee), Passiflora edulis (passion fruit), Carica papaya (papaya), Ficus carica (common fig), Piper nigrum (black pepper), Psidium guajava (common guava), Araucaria bidwillii (bunya pine) and others.

- In tropical greenhouse there is a Adansonia (baobab), grown from seeds, and in the succulent greenhouse another one, donated to the Garden.

- Many relict and endemic plant species from different parts of the world grow outdoors. The arboretum of the Botanical Garden has 30 specimens of old Quercus robur (oak trees), aged from 60 to 100 years and more.

- Over the past 50 years, the Garden has created a collection of rhododendrons, which includes more than 170 species, varieties, hybrids and cultivars and includes evergreen, semi-evergreen and deciduous shrubs.

- In 1976, the Magnolia garden was laid. The number of trees reaches 300, and the oldest was planted in 1934 and is still blooming.

- In the spring, the Garden is flooded with Crocus (crocuses) and Tulipa (tulips), Malus (apple) and Pyrus (pear) trees (an espalier orchard has been created from them), Juniperus (junipers), Cotoneaster (cotoneasters), Spiraea (meadowsweets), Pinus heldreichii (Serbian pine), Cercis canadensis (eastern redbud), Viburnum × bodnantense (Bodnant viburnum), Chaenomeles japonica (Japanese quince), Prinsepia sinensis (Prinsep´s cherry) and Lycium barbarum (boxthorn), Kerria japonica (Japanese rose), Berberis (barberry), Lonicera (honeysuckle), Rosa (roses), Prunus serrulata (Japanese cherry), Forsythia (forsythia) and others.

- On the flowers of Juglans nigra (black walnut), one of the directors of the Botanical Garden, Sergei Navashin, made outstanding discoveries in the field of plant cytoembryology (proved the existence of double fertilization in angiosperms), which brought the Botanical Garden worldwide fame.
